Hello Everybody!
It’s almost the end of the year and I have already challenged myself, that i will finish the second level of my chinese language learning. Everybody know that starting a new language isn’t an easy task at the beginning. It surely takes time and it’s filled with many obstacles. Still, the more you learn about this language the more you discover new things and new culture.
The learning of a new language, is in fact a regular and consistent work over time, so that you can reach the desired results. You will get through hard times when you lose motivation or stuggle to find the time to work and study. Other times you feel yourself stuck in a lesson that seems so hard that your brain can’t continue. Neverthless, this is all quit normal and like everything in our lives, it needs a strong determination and a long patience. What matters the most, is that the learning proccess has to be continued.
I have to admit that learning chinese have made me more consistent and more active than i used to be. I have been trying all the possible things to make more steps forward, and the sure thing is, the more you practice the more you improve your language learning.
Here are the steps that really helped me:
Watch movies and listen to songs as well as podcasts in chinese language.
watching series help a lot to understand the language better and get used to it, repeatedly, you build vocabulary and improve your listening skills.
Immerse yourself in chinese media.
Try to involve yourself as much as possible in chinese forum and apps, actually, there are many ( facebook, instagram, wechat, bilibili, HSK online apps), this helps to make you in the context and you learn in a joyful way as well.
Make you own vocabulary book .
Using a notebook or your phone’s notes, try to make a list of words with their meaning. Every time you hear a word that isn’t familiar to you, write it down. Try to find it’s synonyms and some sentences to make it easier for you to undestand when your revising it onther time.
practice
Practice is the key to improve yourself, if you don’t, you are going to end up forgetting all your previous lessons. Practice as much as you can, use the words and things you learnt in different contexts, try to speak even with yourself if you don’t have chinese friends.
Obviously learning a new language is a long term project that needs time to see the results you want. All what we have to do is to keep patience and try to find new ways to make the proccess more fun and comfortable.
